We are so focused on our face that many of us forget about our telltale aging hands. When hands lose collagen over the years, the result is loose skin, protruding veins and discoloration.

Hands can easily be filled in a simple office visit. This can either be done with Radiesse or with a hyaluronic acid filler like Perlane or Juvéderm.
Is it painful to have the hands injected?
A topical numbing preparation is placed on the hands for 15 to 20 minutes before the injections. This makes the injections very comfortable.
How long do the hand injections take?
If you are having the topical numbing then the entire procedure takes 1 hour.

You will see the results from the hand injections immediately.
Are there any side effects from hand injections?
There often is swelling. This can last a few days. There may be bruising which will resolve after a few days to a week. This can be covered by makeup.
Can anything be done to minimize the hand swelling?
We place ice packs on the hand immediately after the procedure to decrease the swelling. You can also take medical strength Arnica which helps.
Can anything be done to minimize the bruising?
We apply firm pressure to the area after the injections. We also ask that you avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, Vitamin E and alcohol for 1 week before the procedure.
How long will hand injections last?
Everyone is different. Injections into the hands can last anywhere from 8 months to a year.
What can I do if I have brown spots on my hands?
Brown spots can be treated with a laser. If you only have a few brown spots then the Accutip would be the best choice. If you have a lot of brown spots the Fraxel laser would be better.
What can I do if I have a lot of sun damage on my hands including red spots, brown spots and broken blood vessels?
The limelight IPL would be your best choice. It can take 1 treatment or it may take up to 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.
What if I want a laser with no downtime?
Choose the Medlite laser. It requires a series of treatments spaced 2-4 weeks apart but there is no telltale sign that you had a laser. No redness, no crusting, no bruising or even peeling. It will slowly remove the brown spots and improve the texture of your skin. It’s a perfect laser for somebody who has an active lifestyle and a lot of social engagements.
What types of products can I use on my hands to rejuvenate them?
There are many products that can be used to rejuvenate the hands. It is important to use an SPF 30 broad-spectrum sunscreen every day to prevent further sun damage. Retinols, growth factors, peptides, Vitamin C and hydroquinone are very effective ingredients to look for in anti-aging products for the hands. A daily moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, glycerin or ceramides will help to keep your hands hydrated.
